despina is also known in the burgeoning craft community as 'happydespina ltd' producing and peddling handmade chalkboards she cuts into interesting shapes. she's exhibited for the past four years at the summer renegade craft fair in chicago, one of the largest most prestigious and well attended craft fairs in the country.
recently, she's taken her environmental design experience and created an event design business lovingly referred to as 'a thousand times des'. with a bevy of weddings under her belt, despina has successfully transformed outdoor pavilions, rustic gallery spaces, and historic theatres into beautiful landscapes in which to celebrate. despina has been associated with the acclaimed manual cinema, designing a post show event space for their shadow play 'lula del ray' in chicago's historic theatre on the lake. she created an immersive experience for the partygoer, bringing tropes, imagery, and experiences from the show to life.
with training from new york's center for book arts and the savannah college of art and design fibers department, despina also teaches bookmaking and embroidery arts at various local independent arts institutions and leads a variety of workshops on material utilization and creative problem solving.
